Saturday April 10th was a lovely day for the Walk/Meal starting at the Clubs local, the Rifleman's Arms in Kendal. Following a variety of routes over Scout Scar and Whitbarrow Scar, 25 Fellfarers ended up at the Derby Arms at Witherslack for a meal and a great selection of beers, before returning to Kendal via bus.
Below left shows the group gathering outside the Riflemans Arms, and below right the first stop on Scout Scar.
George is a-top the cairn on Whitbarrow Scar bottow left, with some of the rest of the group bottom right at the same place.

Unfortunately, the trip to El Choro was caught up in the volcano fiasco and had to be cancelled. This is what they got up to at home.

April saw the first of outing of the Mid-week Walkers. Starting in Borrowdale (the other one) near Low Borrowbridge, the group walked over Grayrigg Common before lunching above Great and Little Coum. Returning by the wall, the day was rounded off with a visit to the Old School Cafe in Tebay - recommended!
Below left shows the lunch stop, and bottom left returning by the wall.
Below right shows Mick standing by an interesting example of a branch from one species of tree having grafted itself onto another species of tree. (A re-visit in August revealed that it is in fact an ash tree growing on an alder tree)
